Disney - Boys Rule

Good Morning Scrappy Friends!! Today I'm sharing my project at Boys Rule. The July/Aug kit has so many fun things in it, it was hard to chose what to play with, lol.. I did this layout of Ryan and Chris from their trip to Disneyland. Those boys took such funny photos! I was thinking of a design when I saw Laura's sketch and I decided that it was just perfect for what I had in mind. Every month we have a sketch challenge on the blog, so I hope you can stop by and join us! It's so fun to see friends playing along.

Laura's sketch ( which I flipped)

I think I spent longer looking through all the patterned paper than I did making the cards. It was so hard to choose. Thanks to the double dot cardstock and the 6x6 paper pad I finally got to work!!

The Best One - Boys Rule

Good Morning! How's your Tuesday? Today I'm sharing my first layout using the July/ August kit for Boys Rule. As usual I spend more time looking at all the goodies than actually scrapping! This photo is from 2006 on a trip we took to the Calgary Zoo with the kids. I had tons of fun with my stamping and splattering on this one. I love the kits because it gives me an opportunity to work with product I might not have noticed. I think this is my first layout I've ever done using Bella Blvd, and I loved it!! So a big thanks to Laura-Lee for giving me new goodies to play with!

Hummingbirds

Morning Scrappy Friends! Today I'm up on the Scrapstuffz blog. When I first saw the inspiration photo I knew right away what I wanted to do. This photo reminded me of the hummingbirds that visit us each summer at the lake house. I searched for a photo of them and couldn't find one.. so... I decided to use the inspiration photo for my layout!! I just love the blue bottle and those cute little birds. I pulled out the Anthem collection from BoBunny, some Washi tape and stamps and just let this layout come together. I even dug out some old old saying stickers that I found and used those instead of a title. I hope you can stop by and play along with us! I would love to see what inspires you from the photo.

Banff Misc Me - BoBunny

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Saturday!! Today at BoBunny I am sharing some more of my Misc. Me pages. Hubby and I recently snuck away for a few days in the mountains. We were at our daughters and she lives an hour away from the park, so it was the perfect opportunity. I loved working with the Somewhere in Time collection for this spread. I thought the blues of the collection were made for water and sky. We have been to the mountains so many times, but it never gets old. We just have to snap the photos of the waterfalls and mountains. I even got hubby to take a selfie with me, lol. I did a ton of fussy cutting, I had this idea to blend the photos into the cards. The new stamp sets were a ton of fun too!!

Lifetime Memories

Good Morning Everyone!! Yesterday it was HOT here.. so in between laundry and cleaning up my desk I couldn't help but take some time to play with the July challenge over at Creative Embellishments. When I saw the challenge photo it reminded me of something calm and peaceful. The colors I first saw where the blues and browns with that hint of beige or gold. That took me to the Somewhere in Time collection at BoBunny! The next part of the challenge was to "emboss". Ohhh now the fun began. I dived into my stash of chipboard from Creative Embellishments and got to work. I actually used two colors, a brown and blue, but the blue came out more bronze, lol.. I had just too much fun. It was nice to relax and just create something for fun. Sprays, stamps, chippies and powders made for a fun afternoon in the sun! Ohhh and who remembers Magic Mesh.. that's on there too! lol. This photo of Ryan and Nicole I just used to make an altered frame, but since Nicole stole that, I thought it was ok to use the photo again!!!

Here is the Inspiration photo!!

Somewhere in Time - BoBunny

Good Morning! Today at BoBunny I am sharing an altered frame I made using the new Somewhere in Time collection. As soon as I saw this collection I knew I wanted to alter a frame with it. I wanted to capture the special relationship Nicole and Ryan have. From when they were small they were the best of friends and that hasn't changed. For the frame I used some new crackle paint I bought and I love how it turned out. I printed out some saying and used some rub on saying to fill in the smaller frames. Some fussy cutting and stamping completed the project. This was a really special project and Nicole quickly said "I want that", so now it's on the wall at her new home.

Lots of fussy cutting going on for the flowers.
Here is a closeup of the crackle paint!!
I just loved this saying I found on the internet, so had to use it!

It's A Party - Boys Rule

Morning!! This is my last project using the May/June kit at Boys Rule. I thought this was a good way to use up all those bits and pieces from the kit. Oh don't get me wrong, there is still plenty left over, I'm no where near down to my scraps. I think I could do another five layouts with all that is left! I thought though that Noah might like an invite to share with his Grandma when she gets invited to his birthday party!! Maybe, just maybe he will invite me too!!!

Creative Blog Hop!!

Good Morning Everyone!! Some friends I know are doing a creative blog hop!  Last week my sweet friend Di Willcox tagged me in her blog so today it's my turn to share some things about myself and share some wonderful friends blogs with you. Next week they will be sharing their thoughts and sharing more blogs with you! This is so much fun and I would like to thank Di for thinking of me!! So let's get answering those questions!

1. What am I working on?
Right now I'm working on some pages for my Misc. Me binder! I'm so in love with the Somewhere In Time collection from BoBunny. This spread is all about a trip we just took in the mountains.

2. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I really don't think I am different or do anything special when I scrap. I can tell you what I love!! Layers, layers and more layers! Embellies, paint, stamps and mist!! I love to experiment. I will say that the one thing I tend to lean towards is earthy colors. I have a hard time doing fun bright projects. I will do simple, the next layout is fussy cutting, then the next is a layout with a mixed media twist! It's fun to try new things.

3. Why do I create what I do?

Sometimes I create just for fun. I just want to play. That's usually when I reach for my art journal
( which by the way has been neglected for the past while).  Other times I am doing design projects where I am assigned something. The bottom line is I create because I want to capture memories on paper, I want to tell a story, and also because I enjoy the creativity. It takes me to my happy place!

How does my creative process work?
I tend to always start with a photo I want to scrap. Then I find a collection that I want to work with. I then play with layers ( lots of layers). The fun part comes next...the embellies!! I mix and match, layer and play! Titles are the thing I find the hardest to do. Now that I have a cameo, it's a little easier to make a title. A lot of the time I will use a sticker from a collection that jumps out at me. To finish off I always grab my stamps and stamp pad. This is the part where I say " just a little more"!! My goal is to add more journaling to my projects. Most of the time I like to hide it with a tag or on the edge of my project.

So the big question is.. where do I find inspiration? I love galleries and Pinterest, but I do love blog hopping and checking in on all the amazing scrappers out there!! Here are two of my favourite ladies!

Juliana Michaels is such an amazing lady. We have been scrappy friends for a few years and she never ceases to amaze me with the projects she does. I met her when I started designing for BoBunny and she took me under her wing and was my mentor!! I call her the Queen of Altered Items!! I am in awe of what she creates. Her layouts are so fun. She has so many different techniques ( and yes she shares them with everyone). I hope you enjoy her blog as much as I do!

Rhonda Van Ginkel is my scrappy buddy!! We run ideas past each other, chat about everyday life, and she always is ready to help figure out that "little extra something" my project needs. I always admire her projects and try to figure out how she did it!! She is incredible! Her cards blow me away every time. Her attention to detail amazes me!! Did I mention she has the two cutest boys!! I hope you enjoy her blog too!!

Next week these two fabulous scrappers will share with you too..
